Getting There
Myra Falls is nestled in Strathcona-Westmin Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, a gem of natural beauty. To reach the falls, your GPS will guide you to the park's parking lot.
Lower Myra Falls Trail
Start of Trail: The trail begins to the right of the wooden information board in the parking lot. It's short and well-maintained, making it accessible for most hikers.
First Junction: In less than five minutes, you'll encounter a junction. Continue straight here for Lower Myra Falls.
Second Junction: After another brief walk, a second junction appears. Take a right turn to approach the lookout of Lower Myra Falls.
Exploring Lower Myra Falls
Beyond the Lookout: While the lookout offers a stunning view, walking out onto the rocks, when safe, provides a closer experience of the falls. The rocks are a great spot to relax and enjoy the day, with natural pools formed by the crystal-clear water.
Access to Buttle Lake: Descend carefully towards Buttle Lake. Near the waterfall's base, you can see Mt. Albert Edwards and Syd Watts Peak.
Swimming Opportunities: The turquoise waters of Buttle Lake near Myra Falls are ideal for swimming, although the water tends to be quite cold. The depth is suitable for diving.
Upper Myra Falls Lookout
Returning to the Junction: Head back to the previous junction, staying right. At the next junction, continue right.
View from Above: The trail opens up to a concrete platform, offering an aerial view of the falls and revealing their true magnitude.
Back to the Parking Lot: When you've finished exploring, retrace your steps along the trail to return to the parking lot.
