Location and Trailhead Access

- From Island Highway (Highway 1), turn onto Beverly Street towards Duncan. 
- In Duncan, turn right at the intersection of Beverly and Government Streets. 
- Follow Government Street to Maple Bay Road, turning left. 
- At the roundabout on Maple Bay Road, take the second exit onto Tzouhalem Road. 
- The trailhead parking lot is on the right-hand side. 
Hiking Difficulty
- Rating: Moderate to difficult, depending on the chosen route. 
- Distance: About 7.5 km (4.7 miles) round trip. 
- Elevation Gain: Approximately 305 meters (1,000 feet). 
- Terrain: Includes steep sections, rocky paths, and exposed roots. Suitable footwear is a must. 
- Wildlife: Be aware of potential encounters with deer or black bears. 
Hiking Route
- Starting Point: The trailhead at the end of the parking lot. 
- Route: Follow Stoney Hill Trail for about 1.5 km (0.9 miles) until reaching a junction. Turn left onto Tzouhalem Loop Trail. 
- Markers: The trail is marked with orange markers. 
- Scenery: The path winds through Douglas fir forests, offering multiple viewpoints. 
- Summit: The panoramic summit view includes Maple Bay, Genoa Bay, and Saltspring Island. 
- Extended Hike: For a longer hike, continue to the Cross Trail leading to the mountain summit.
